Granite Falls Chamber of Commerce General Meeting June 18, 2015 6:30PM
Meeting was called to order by Mike at 6:30pm
Round table introductions each person in attendance was able to talk about their business and what they have going on this month.
Meeting minutes were motioned and approved.
Caboose by Fred from the Museum.
Fred from the Museum had a Caboose donated to them that was renovated into a private residence. The proposal is that the caboose will be located next to the train in town, and be used as a visitor center; the chamber would help to assist in manning the visitor center. The property owner wants to support the museum and the city wants to support this as well. The owner will allow for the foundation to be build for the caboose to sit on and the city would help with power and insurance. There would be parking available as well. There was discussion around supporting this with “groups” in town to help man the caboose. If we can get the caboose manned then we would find value on moving it from the private party to the new spot in town next to the train. What we want to avoid is moving this and then it being vandalized because no one is able to man the visitor center.
Mike said that IGA would donate coffee and doughnuts and the local groups would support with volunteering for “donations” at the caboose for their teams.
Final thought is the committee to be formed to see what the interest will be to man the visitor center. Looking to move fast due to the weather. Mike and Billie will look into this and get back in August or September.
- Ask groups if interested 2) have a point of contact 3) orientation around the visitor center 4) sign up for your groups weekends. 5) volunteer
It was requested a visual of how the entire lay out would like.

Jude attended a conference and learned about “Pathways to Prosperity” this was an “Angle Fund”. Individuals, who have a business idea but not the working capital, can connect with local investors to obtain a Zero interest loan. This loan would be from local people investing in the community to buy into local business. We are looking to present this at the General Meeting in July.
